Why didn't you bet all streets?
Checking the turn is really bad, IMO. Raising PF here is standard, not necesarily isolation. I might raise the river if I think he'll pay off (since you didn't bet the turn), but not if I bet the turn, then I just call. |

turn check is fine HU if you think he will bet a worse hand for you on the river.
But why didn't you raise the river? |

Why didn't you bet all streets? [/ QUOTE ] FPS? I guess at the time I was thinking, probably incorrectly, that he would fold any weak draw (to two pair or a gutshot for instance) because of the pot size. I was willing to risk the small pot to induce a bluff or loose call on the river. How bad is this thinking? Or is it good? |

[/ QUOTE ] I'm not following...are you saying you didn't bet the turn because you wanted a weak draw to hang on and maybe bluff if they miss the river? I beleive the idea is to bet the turn, making the chase of the draw INCORRECT. Think of it this way; Betting the Turn He calls your bet on the turn, +1 BB, he check/folds the river after probably missing. Checking the Turn He draws to the river, and bets. You regard this as a +1 BB, but there is a chance he hit because you gave the free card, if you call, you gain nothing over the previous scenario, just risk. I don't think I explained that as well as I wanted to, I hope I got what I was saying, and I hope I got what you were saying initially. |

[ QUOTE ] why on earth are you not betting that turn. I just don't get it [/ QUOTE ] read above. [/ QUOTE ] I normally post before reading responses. You FPSd this badly. if you are gonna check this turn, then you desperately need to raise the river. you misplayed this hand on all of the important streets |

I beleive the idea is to bet the turn, making the chase of the draw INCORRECT. Think of it this way; [/ QUOTE ] I guess the key ingredient is that for this strategy to work, the opponent must be capable of laying down a draw correctly, and also capable of bluffing. HPFAP Page 87. What does everyone think... is this strategy misused in this situation against an opponent with these numbers? ~mad |
