Default my main event bust hand

would like comments please.

villian is table chip leader (~30k.) very LAGish. raises a lot, is very aggressive post flop. a smart LAG if you will. early on in the tourney he showed down some crap (limped w/ 56o in EP, flopped 2 pair, etc.) lately most of his hands don't make showdown, the only recent one was AA.

my stack is 12k. blinds are 100/200 w/ 25 ante.

villian is in EP and raises to 600. I have Q [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]Q [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] on the button. I reraise to 1800.

villian calls.

pot is 4100 to a flop of J [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]T [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]5 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img].

villian checks. I bet 2500. he goes all in.

i have 8k left, pot is laying me a little better than 2 to 1. call, or fold?

results:

villian shows 97d for a flopped flush. turn is a Q and i have a buttload of outs. river a brick, i have an ESPN camera in my face, say nice hand and go to the blackjack tables.

Damn...... Reverse implied odds dictate that you should fold. When it's so deep-stacked, you'd be better off limping in with a hand like QQ and playing it for set value.

The way you played it, I mean... relative to the blinds, your stack would stick be in alright shape but you've put so much in already it'd be tough to walk away.

Tough break Billy. I was going to call you tonight but decided to take a red eye out of town instead. Next year my man, we'll meet up after we play... get wasted, get chicks, get laid... then meet at the final table.

As far as the hand goes. I don't mind the call here because there is a possibility he is on a semi bluff with the Ad or Kd which would give him a decent draw against you. In the end my take on the WSOP is that you need to get chips early or die trying, hence I dont mind this play, others may not agree.

Perhaps the worst advice I have ever seen on this forum.

Congratulations.

Thanks for being an [censored]. Do a search for David Sklansky's thread on reverse implied odds. Then come back and tell us what you've learned.

this is what made me call. this guy C/R a lot -- i put him mostly on AdJx or Kd Jx. I wasn't scared of AdAx or KdKx -- i don't think he'd trap me and would have reraised PF. AdKd could be possible -- but i think he'd figure he'd have the deck crippled and would just try to get me to bluff.

I also thought JJ/TT were possible -- but with my flush outs + the chance I was ahead against a large diamond made this a call for me (JT was also possible.)

honestly, i never considered a flopped small flush.
