My stack: 145 Villain Stack: 300 AKo in MP/LP open raise to 15, CO calls all else folds. flop A85 rainbow, I bet 20, he calls turn brings another 5, I bet 40, he calls turn brings a T. I push. |

When you're thinking of pushing like this, think to yourself, "What would he call me with that I can beat?" I think you bet about the size of the pot. Your opponent's play seems kind of fishy unless he filled up on the flop. I don't see him playing 67 like this. If he calls you with AQ or worse, he's a donk. I think your push is -EV since a good opponent won't call you unless he has you beat.

What's your read on the CO. If he's a good player, check the turn. If he's a bad player, bet half the pot on the turn and half the pot on the river.

table is relatively tight with the exception of one player who is a LAG but not involved in the hand.
as soon as I pushed the river I knew I was behind. I don't like the line of checking the turn but I prefer to fire again, but that leaves me with checking the river. but if I do check am I checking with the intention of folding to a big bet or calling? If we use the line of betting half pot, sure I can easily muck to a raise/push. but if I'm checking either the turn or river, what's going to make you fold? |
