Wynn 2/5 NL hand reading exercise
Here's a hand that took place at my table on Saturday morning.
The table was on the tight side for a 2/5 game. I hadn't seen anything outrageous from the players in this hand, although I had no reason to think they were particularly great (except that one guy bought in for 1500, which made me think he might be good). I fold UTG. UTG+1 40ish guy (210) raises to 25. Three folds, then there is a 40ish guy MP cold caller (bought in for 1500). The next player (MP+1), 25ish tightish kid (550) raises to 60. Folded back to UTG+1 who calls, MP calls too. Flop 9d3s2d. UTG+1 goes all in for remaining 150. MP calls after ~5 seconds thought. After a few more seconds, kid goes all in for ~500. MP thinks for like 20 seconds and calls. I'll stipulate here that all the plays in this hand would seem reasonable or defensible to a typical (i.e., bad) 2/5 player. This is not to say that all the players played their hands well. All hands were shown down (this is not a hint). Put each player on a hand or range of hands. |

Re: Wynn 2/5 NL hand reading exercise
UTG and MP+1 on pairs and MP on the nut flush draw with overs. UTG probably has TT, JJ or QQ.

Re: Wynn 2/5 NL hand reading exercise
UTG - QQ, JJ, TT, AdKd (I expect stronger hands to check the flop or reraise preflop - the push is more likely to mean he doesn't want to see the turn)
MP - QQ? KK? AdKd? Hard to come up with something that just calls the whole way Kid - AA-QQ? Depends how tight "tightesh" means... If I had to guess specific hands I'd say JJ, KK, and AA, in that order. |

Re: Wynn 2/5 NL hand reading exercise
I feel like MP doesn't have too strong a hand, otherwise why would he take his time calling the tightish players raise on flop? He should know a set will be good the vast majority of the time.
Trying to dumb down the hands knowing this is live 2/5. UTG+1: K [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] Q [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] MP: JJ MP+1: A [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] J [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] |

Re: Wynn 2/5 NL hand reading exercise
UTG: 99, 1010, JJ
MP: AK[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], AQ[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], possibly A3[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] Kid: AA, KK Im guessing MP has to have the Ad which narrows down the possibilities for the other two. |

Re: Wynn 2/5 NL hand reading exercise
UTG - 9's, 10's, JJ's, AKd or Aqd If he had high pair, being the short stack, I think he would have come over the top all in pre flop. I don't see a UTG raise with 2's or 3's. He could have been slow playing a big pair, but given his relative chip stack he probbaly just would have gotten it all in preflop.
MP - Over pair 10 10, JJ or AKd. Caught in the middle with a good hand but likely the worst giving the betting, hence the stalling. MP + 1 = KK AA, Very strong bets following strength showed by both players pre and post flop. |
