I'm just reviewing last nights tourneys and saw this hand.
I don't recall any relevent reads.

I would love you tell you my thought process, but looking at it now, I don't know why I would spew off 40% of my stack on a bluff OOP.

Is this as horrible as it looks?

From the looks of it, this is a tight game. Don't minraise here. P00sh.

Yeah, it's bad. Minraising is a great way to wind up all in with a crap hand. The only real question is push or fold, and with 5 BBs and good stack sizes to take advantage of, I'd jam. The BB will fold a LOT of hands, and although the SB and button are of some concern, neither will be eager to jump on you here with an Ax type hand. You really need to get an edge on the other small stacks, and stealing their blinds is the best way to do that.

I played 11 tourneys last night that seemed to last forever. Blinds were 50/100 with 7 and 8 people left. During the day however, I played around 20 or so, and 3 guys would be out in the first 10 hands.

You havent told us what kind of players they are...

You only raised 2 BB which is advertising a marginal hand. Professor has 2900 chips so he could call without losing very much or better yet reraise you which would really suck.

I dont know about anyone else here but at this point in the game I would be either folding or pushing (BUT not with the big stacks in). Wait for a spot where they fold and a couple of the smaller stacks are in the blinds, they are more likely to fold. And J8s ? I'd rather do it with Ax or Kx but I might play it here if they're tight.

What range of hands?
Do I need to be first in?
What about UTG with 6 left to act?

The way I get down to 5BB is by either having the big stacks already in the hand, or by simply having crap hands.

that was this case. this is why it stood out, because it's not standard play.
