Default Isn\'t this \"F-Bomb\" stuff getting carried away?

Now we have people telling on each other to gain an edge or to get some payback for getting out played.... Could you imagine if the NFL implemented this rule? As Norman Chad would say, "this is what happens when you let women start playing poker"

Title: Rafi Amit Doubles Through Vinny Vinh; F-Bomb Penalizes Him 10 Minutes
Log: After a flop of 9c-8d-8h, Rafi Amit bets, Vinny Vinh reraises $344,000 more, Amit pushes all in, and Vinh calls. Vinh shows Ad-10d-8s-5d (trip eights), but Amit has Jh-9d-9s-4h (full house, nines full of eights). Vinh is drawing very thin, needing to catch the fourth eight or running aces to win the hand. The turn card is the 5h, the river card is the 2c, and Rafi Amit wins the hand.

The chips in their stacks are counted down, and Vinny Vinh has about $95,000 left.

But wait, there's more ...

Apparently, Vinny Vinh heard Rafi Amit say the "F-Bomb" during a hand a few minutes earlier, which is a mandatory 10-minute penalty. There is a sustained argument between Rafi Amit and Assistant Tournament Director Jack Effel, and multiple sides to the story, but the end result is that Amit is being blinded off for ten minutes at $8,000-$16,000. Stay tuned to CardPlayer.com to find out how much money he loses during this penalty period.

It is absurd. While excessive berating of other players should not be tolerated it is silly to turn poker into a Disney product. It is played by adults whose frail minds surely can handle it.

What makes it even more a scum thing to do is that it was during HU. I guess it was a desperate attempt by a very tiny stack to gain some ground during HU (Vinh trippled his stack by being given free blinds during the penalty).

Well we finally had some excitement. After Rafi Amit flopped a full house with pocket 9's and a 9 8 8 flop, Amit took 607k off Vinny Vinh who had A 8. Vinh had 95k left. Rafi felt there was a miscount on how much he got and dropped the F-bomb to Jack Effel. Jack immediately gave Amit a 10 minute penalty. Rafi and his friends have gone nuts. His friends have been removed from the area by security. Meanwhile, Vinh is collecting the blinds. "Vinny, be a man," Rafi pleads. Rafi wants Vinny to stall out the 10 minutes. Vinny isn't doing it. How much will Rafi lose? We don't know yet. The ten minutes are still ticking off and Vinh is still stacking the free chips. Unbelievible.

They didn't film a lot of tournaments I thought they would be filming. I didn't know that this was supposed to be filmed, but I know 100% for a fact it was not filmed. They didnt even play the final table on the "mock" ESPN final table, which was surprising.

I think they are looking for the "Big Names" to fill out a table before they decide whether they should air it.

That only had Erik Seidel and Todd Brunson, the rest were relatively unknown pro's.

They originally weren't going to film a couple of them, but changed there mind when they saw Doyle, Layne, and Scotty at the 6-handed game.

Here's a third account of the incident from pokerwire.com:

[ QUOTE ]
In a previous hand, Amit was heard by Vinh using foul language at the table. When Jack Effel asked the dealer if Amit had, in fact, used profanity, the dealer couldn't be sure.

After losing the hand that crippled him, Vinh again brought up the issue that the hand shouldn't have happened because Amit should have gotten a ten minute penalty. Jack, the tournament director, again asked the dealer to verify whether or not profanity had been used. The dealer admitted that it had. After pushing Amit his stack, Jack gave Amit a 10 minute penalty.

There was confusion among the crowd and security had to be called. Amit pleaded with the tournament director to substain from penalizing him. Amit mentioned previous situations which involved Vinny Vinh using profanity and threating comments, to no avail. Jack Effel was firm and Amit was escorted from the table.

The hands will continue to be dealt at this limit for the next ten minutes without Amit's participation.

[/ QUOTE ]

How can 3 people have differing accounts of what happened, assuming they're all paying attention at the final table?

Kevin...

I'm a fairly conservative guy, but that is just a ridiculous rule!

Enforcement of it has become a circus!!
