folding the best hand
party 1knl, 6max
me: 1000 WILDLAG: 2500 UTG: 850 UTG raises 40, WILDLAG calls, i just call with JJ, BB calls. Flop 8xx, pot 168. UTG bets out 200, WILDLAG min raises to 400. I fold. UTG goes allin with 99, WILDLAG calls with 8 10. Am I insane or should i have called that? Third time something like that happened. I can deal with being HU with a mid/high PP but with a pot AND a raise should i still be folding? |

Re: folding the best hand
It's tough, because overpairs are gold against WILDLAG players. But I'd fold and let UTG take this one. If he is thinking like you, he'd need 99-AA, or two-pair or better to bet into a LAG like this. You don't beat enough of those to call. But when you do, with KK, AA, or better, you'll take his money and WILDLAG's. I say good fold.

think of it as paying a small amount for a good read.

Re: folding the best hand
Did you consider reraising wildlag's raise? You'd definitely force UTG to muck ALOT of hands if you have a tight image....of course it'd be costly if he didn't muck and had you beat, but I would have considered that line along with mucking....calling in that spot is out of the question.

Re: folding the best hand
I would also heavily consider reraising preflop as well.

Re: folding the best hand
You don't give any description of UTG. If WILDLAG is as bad as you seem to imply, then I would make it $130 preflop in an attempt to isolate.

Re: folding the best hand
I love isolating these people. WILDLAGs can sometimes make it easy to push a 3rd player off his hand. This is a great time to take advantage of your position. I'd reraise here.
