Re: Different scenarios
4x BB on the button with a king? I don't see how you get away from this.

Re: Different scenarios
Yeah, that was my point. A friend of mine was saying this is only +EV against a tight opponent.

Re: Different scenarios
I don't see how this cannot be +EV even against the loosest button. He's really only going to get a hand you're not in good shape against (an ace, a pair, k6+) around 27 percent of the time. Using Eastbays tool with both SB and BB on call range of 22+, A2+ K6+, you should still be pushing K5o(8.4% to 8.5%).

Re: Different scenarios
Run it again.
Remember, getting called by QJ is not a good thing here. |

Re: Different scenarios
I could be wrong, but I wouldnt be too mad with a call with QJ, I dont have all day and if I have a shot to take it as a fav thats fine by me. Plus I always win all ins so thats a factor.

Re: Different scenarios
Yeah, but you taking down blinds is like "w00t, hell yah, I pwn!"
Getting called by QJ is "meh, hope I double up..." |

Re: Different scenarios
Yea I alrigh tried running it with slightly looser range incluing 2 broadway and it still only drops to neutral EV, I couldn't get it to go negative but then again I didn't try all that hard.
If you really want to figure out if this can be negative you'd have to look at his pot odds and find out all the hands that will be getting the odds to call both from BB and from SB as if you're hand were to be played face up. This is a lot of work and I have no desire to do it since I don't know many players who are calling with k6o here. This is all theoretical and of little practical use. I would guess even with a perfect calling range its only very marginally negative. Another thing to consider is if this guy is a complete maniac it may be better to wait for a more profitable hand (ie an ace) after which this guy will call and people will be afraid to overall. |
