3-6 on line....I have JJ from the SB. 2 limpers..a raise and I call. Flop is J93 rainbow. I check, check, bet (strong player I respect) call, I check raise..fold, call, call. Turn is a Q. I bet SP raises, LP folds, I reraise, he caps. I figure I am dead to KT, but figure maybe he only has Q9 or maybe the board will pair...so I call his cap and river bet. Thoughts?

Where did the raise come from? You should think about 3 betting this preflop.

I agree with the poster who said you should have 3-bet pre-flop. Get those bad aces in the limpers hands out of there.
As for the rest of the hand, I believe that the strong player was one of the limpers preflop, but do you really see him coming in with KT? (or T8, which seems more likely given the post-flop betting -- KT has only a gutshot on the flop) Was he the cutoff? (which would at least give him a positional rationalization to come in with a sub-standard hand) I put him on QJ, probably suited, so I finish it exactly as you did. I considered saying I would bet out on the river, but that play only loses one bet and never gains one -- he won't raise as often as he would bet out if checked to. |
