Pokertracker is cheating
Simply put, it's cheating.
I've been playing online for about one year and just today finally decided to get Pokertracker. I had been winning so I felt I did not need it. But due to a rut I've been in and the fact that this forum is so Pokertracker based I bought it today along with Gametime+. All the information that is now accessible is overwhelming. All the stats make the game easy. Its the equivalent of having a cheat sheet on my poker tables. Before getting GT+ I would actually have to play poker. Now I don't even have to pay attention and hard calls have become easy calls. I don't feel that this should be a part of the game but since it's still legal I will continue to use it as well. Pokertracker kicks ass but it's too good |

I hope this produces a long thread arguing all sides of the issue. 99 where not enough!

Re: Pokertracker is cheating
Baloney!
PT isn't "cheating", all it is is statistics based on history to help you make an educated decision about the future. Cheating is the manipulation of future play, PT can't help you there. I like PT, to analyze my own game, yet half of me does wish at times that *nobody* could use it because I think then the people who are really good would be better because so many donkeys have helped their game having PT. (I, donkey) PT is more noble than PokerEdge IMHO because if you want the stats you have to do the work yourself, wheras PE just feels dirty to a degree that you pay someone by the month for stats. (although more detailed stats!) My 2BB's. |

Re: Pokertracker is cheating
Yes I tend to agree about PE.
It's one thing to mine my own hand histories. Quite another tha some group out there is getting *my* data and selling it. Anyone have any feeling on Party Poker's little bug of posting mucked hands in the hand histories? I feel if I muck a hand it should stay mucked. At a B&M I'm not allowed to say, "show me those folded hole cards" am I? I thought the rule was called hole cards had to be shown. |

I have been told that you can indeed request the dealer to show hole cards that have been mucked at showdown.

Re: Pokertracker is cheating
Yes, at a B&M cardroom this proceedure is implemented to stop cheaters "pumping up the pot" for their parters with trash, you can request to see mucked cards.
Although you have the right, its best not to exercise it unless you feel cheating is afoot, as everyone will get pissed at you eventually and probably gun for you which is -EV. |

Anyone have any feeling on Party Poker's little bug of posting mucked hands in the hand histories? [/ QUOTE ] this is not a bug. I do like the fact that they do this though. I like to see. If they didn't do this (as has been the case at times in the past I believe) I could deal with it though and wouldn't be bothered in the least. In other words, either way I'm fine. |
