Default is this really that bad? (calling push with OES+FD 3handed)

22 level....my logic was since the blinds were so insanely high i was going to be forced to call an all-in with a junk hand by the short stack the next two hands anyway having only 2300 left and the blinds at 400/200 if i had folded the flop...

my read was dead on that he indeed had the 9 with a kicker in the 10-K range putting me clearly ahead of him when i make the call if my read is correct...was this that bad a decision?

Seat 10 is the button

Total number of players : 3

hero is all-In [2350]

** Dealing Turn ** [ J[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] ]

hero shows [ 7[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], 5[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] ] high card ace.

sb wins 510 chips from side pot #1 with a pair of nines.

If you're worried about the blinds being so high, then either push or fold. I'd fold here. I'm not getting good enough implied odds to want to play.

On the river, easy call. You have a crap load of outs and are getting great odds. You made one crucial mistake after the flop. You missed. Do better next time.

Eh... I think the flop call is really easy, but I think the preflop move is bad. If he's tight, you fold, if he's minraising and folding to pushes, you push... I don't know if the call is great, but in position at the right table, it's possible.

basically the preflop call was made assuming that he would check-fold the flop if he didnt connect with it, i honestly felt that a check raise on his part wouldnt be a possability given the overly tight play i had observed earlier....although you are probably right that either a push/fold was in order preflop

Stupid stupid STUPID call!!...no offence..
There was 1600 in pf, he raised you about 2300 on the flop, which makes the pot about 4 grand and you have to put up 2350 to call, which makes the pot odds about 1.6~1.7...
Your outs are 9 hearts, 3 eights, and runner 5's or 7's (im going to count these as 1/2 outs becuase they are runner, so 1.5 5's and 1.5 7's for a total of 3) this gives you 15 outs on 47 cards left in the deck (approximation again), this makes you a little more than 3:1 underdog if you read him right on top pair, which you did... and with pot odds clearly half of that you can see why this was a terrible call...

Maybe you should think before you speak:

Qs 9c 428 43.23 562 56.77 0 0.00 0.432
7h 5h 562 56.77 428 43.23 0 0.00 0.568

I hope the rest of this post is a joke.

What insight? You have to call. It's preflop that I don't like.

You're right... if there were only one card to come.

Wow, this is bad analysis.

First, a three is an out, 3 outs you didn't count.

Second, and much more importantly, there are two cards to come, and your opponent can't make you pay on the turn. And runner 5s and runner 7s combined are barely worth a single out.

So, you've got 9 outs to the flush, 3 outs to the eight, 3 outs to the three.

That's 15 outs, with two cards to come.

(48-15)/48 * (47-15)/47 = 46% chance of missing nut draws.

54% chance of winning.

There's no way in hell you're not getting odds here.
