A hand that's been bothering me

Both players involved in this pot had been playing pretty straightforward loose passive play prior to this hand, with lots of calls preflop and postflop. SB in this hand is very short stacked (3 big bets left).

What would you have done on this flop? I'm pretty sure that I committed an error...

Henke I assume you are asking if you should have called with the intention of raising a good/safe turn card or three bet the flop.

I would have 3-bet the flop.

BB might have been raising with just top pair. You have an overpair and backdoor draw to the 2nd nut flush.

If BB capped the flop, then I would call and re-evaluate my hand on the turn.

Based on your reads, you have to figure you're up against a BB that has two pair or a set. Loose-passives don't usually bet/raise their flush draws or gutshots.

I don't think 3-betting here is useful, as it seems you are behind and drawing slim if you are. I'd call the two cold and see what the turn offers me. If it's one or more bets back to me UI, I'd fold.

Raise. If SB is pushing his stack in, he'll cap (likely with garbage) and BB will be facing 3 cold.

Regardless, you're only down to a set or 2-pair, and you've got a bdfd to the 2nd nuts. You're raising and if capped re-evaluating on the turn.

Yes, I 3-bet. It would be very easy for one of them to have a Q and the other to have 2 hearts here.
