DIPO or NoPO (for discussion)
I am trying to implement the DIPO formula described in King Yao's book. At the time I was pretty sure I could get a bet on each street (Turn/River) if I hit my hand on the Turn. Opponent was aggressive.
Party Poker 5/10 Hold'em (6 max, 6 handed) converter Preflop: Naphand is UTG with Q[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], J[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]. Naphand raises, 3 folds, SB 3-bets, 1 fold, Naphand calls. Flop: (7 SB) 8[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], K[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], A[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] (2 players) SB bets, Naphand calls If you believe the call is correct, can you think of a situation where it would be incorrect assuming read of opponent is reliable (not a trick question)? |

It's correct. You have the pot odds, I don't see where this would ever be an incorrect call.

Fold preflop. Flop call is slightly +EV. DIPO sucks.

Looks like an easy call to me. Even if the opponent was not read as agressive, with the sb having three bet bf, I think you'd be pretty sure to be bet into on the turn and river with this flop.

Re: DIPO or NoPO (for discussion)
I found it useful as it makes calculating implied odds more straightforward, IMO. The math is very easy and leaves you to focus on determining what outs you have.
Maybe I am stupid but I found myself making mistakes estimating odds, I agree with King Yao that multiplication is easier than division. Anything that is easier means less mistakes. |

Re: DIPO or NoPO (for discussion)
There are two situations where calling is incorrect, one is somewhat hypothetical the other is much more apparent (though you will need to think "outside the box" to determine it here). Both were true for this hand...

Re: DIPO or NoPO (for discussion)
No way can you raise this every time. The game was right for it here (despite my post of a week or so ago about not raising KJo UTG... ).
