Upon reviewing some state gambling laws, the majority of states have laws that contradict other laws in the same state... It is ridiculous. Why don't the repeal the old laws before writing contradictory ones? Very confusing.

such as in Ohio

No person shall do any of the following: ... (4) Engage in betting or in playing any scheme or game of chance as a substantial source of income or livelihood;

But then added after that is the state lottery, non-profit gambling, and other statutes that completely contradict the original one mentioned.

It makes me sick the way the states can continually advertise and bombard people to play a lottery which they have a very slim chance to win to put it mildly yet god forbid if someone wants to play a little poker....Oh well Thomas Jefferson said it was every citizen's duty to defy unjust laws - I'm doing my part.

I realize I am "pissing into the wind" and "speaking too the choir" but I think I will call the FBI and DOJ and complain about this store selling "Big Game " lottery tickets.

There's a difference between defying a law on the courthouse steps and breaking it in your parents' basement.

The Lottery is a voluntary tax on people who are bad at math.

The voting populace views the lottery as harmless fun (despite the low income people who spend $50 or $100 a month on it), and poker as a seedy, shameful practice. It doesn't matter if Joe Senator things poker is no big deal, if he support legalizing it he loses his seat at the next election.
