Default 8-Table 3/6 Extremely Tight = 100k/year? (low content)

Okay, so I've only tried this so far for about 20 hours...but thus far, it's working.

If I 8-table at 3/6 and literally only play AA-77 + AK + AQs, AJs, KQs...through about 11,000 hands, I'm up about 1.75 BB/100. I don't think that will continue...but if I can maintain just 1BB/100, I can make 100-grand over the course of a year.

8-tabling has thus far given me about 550 hands per hour. At that rate, I get about $14/hour just in rakeback. Add that to 1BB/100 (another $33/hour), and you have a $47/hour situation...work 41 hours a week, and that's more than 100 G's a year.

I guess I'll continue with this strategy until it either doesn't work or until someone explains why it won't. Does anyone on these boards employ such a strategy...what are the pros, cons, etc. Basically, is this too good to be true? And if so, why? Thanks.

Your BB/100 expectations seem realistic if you can play reasonably post-flop, but the number of hours you can put in during a week without burning out don't.

That's a reasonable point...I'm pretty young, and therefore I think have a fair amount of endurance. But I wonder what might be a reasonable amount of hours to avoid long-term burnout?

It really depends on you. I find that 8-tabling at all makes me lose the will to live, I could probably do it for about 2 hours/week.

I think people generally shoot for 20-30.

Haha so true. Sometimes when I'm loooking for some good tables and see 30+ people on the waiting list I think "I'll just kill myself instead."

I seriously doubt this is a long term winning strategy. Even if it is you could do much better.

Of course it's a winning strategy, if the games are soft enough.
If by doing better, you mean playing more hands, you must consider that he's playing eight tables. If hero has time to play more hands, he should be adding tables, not play looser.

You could continue to develop your poker game, and make $500,000 a year 8-tabling 15/30 full time eventually. And it would be a lot more interesting.

Sorry, wishful thinking.

Playing like this will not improve your game. Also the games will get tougher over time and your profits will slowly drop. So I reccomend working on your game and improving to higher limits than "farming" a low limit game for a long period of time.
