Taj Daily Tourney
Has anyone recently played the Taj 12:15 tournamanet (50+15)?
If so- How many people register? How long does it take? Quality of player? How's it compare to the Borgata (where I usually play). I'm thinking about playing the next couple fridays... any thoughts would be much appreciated. Thanks. |

Re: Taj Daily Tourney
During the week, they're getting fields of around 100 or so. Tourney runs about 5 hours. I don't know if they get more on Fridays. The quality of play is about the same as you'd see in the evening tourneys.

Re: Taj Daily Tourney
There were 129 Friday 6/24, and it paid top 18 (9th-18th got $84...$19 profit). It got down to 10 players left around 5pm.
I'm not sure I saw any really outstanding play, but it seemed at least moderately tough. Not all rocks, not all TV-trained. There are two big jumps in the blinds, from 300-600 to 500-1000 to 800-1600, that seemed pretty unfortunate given my stack at the time. (It does the same from 3k-6k to 5k-10k to 8k-16k...I think it was the first of those when I finally ran out of chips.) If/when I play again, I'll probably try to keep that in mind. If you're a decent ring game player, the time and the buy-in are probably better spent at 1-2NL. If you're better in tournaments and think you have a reasonable shot at getting more than just your money back (8th doubled his money), it's a decent way to spend an afternoon. Can't compare it to the Borg since I've never been, but you'll at least need more money since their Friday nooner is a 500+50. |
