A2s vs another 2+2er (3/6 B&M)
This hand came up during a B&M 3/6 game I played with a few of my buddies (both 2+2ers) in the local casino (La Center, WA). We were all sitting next to each other, I was the rightmost (ugh).
Chips casino, 3/6 Holdem, La Center, WA (10 handed) Preflop: Hero is BB with A[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], 2[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] 1 fold, Mikenaked raises, 6 folds, SB calls, BB calls. Re: A2s vs another 2+2er (3/6 B&M)
I'm tempted to 3-bet the flop. He'll raise here with overcards a lot of time (I think).

Re: A2s vs another 2+2er (3/6 B&M)
yeah I three-bet the flop also against a 2+2er then lead the turn. I think if you play the flop and turn like you did, I dunno what hes calling with on the river that you beat. Unless you think he'll call you down with AK in this spot, I would C/c the river. Edit: am I the only one who dumps this preflop against this player raising from early position even getting 5-1.

i know thats why i said it I think your ahead a fair amount of the time here I just don't know if your ahead over 50% of the time here that you are called: of course its so player dependant. I would think that heads up, a thinking player in position would bet AK on the turn and take the free showdown.

[/ QUOTE ] I think he also thought that he had a GS and two overs, I had at least a pair, and was capable of c/c the turn and leading any rag river (which was my plan). I think there's basically no way he checks the turn with a pair. |

Re: A2s vs another 2+2er (3/6 B&M)
See you've put yourself in a tough spot by not three-betting the flop. You were lucky that he checked the turn and defined his hand so clearly. If the villian had bet the turn, do you plan to release your hand if raised on the river? I just think you made things unneccasarily difficult for yourself by not simply three-betting the flop.

Re: A2s vs another 2+2er (3/6 B&M)
My line here is definitely to three-bet the flop and lead the turn (against a good player). In this situation, I think you have to take a solid line based on whether you think you are ahead or behind... If you think you're ahead, you must three-bet the flop and lead the turn. If you think you're behind, don't get past the turn. There is no way I think you should get to the river in this hand unless you are the aggressor.
On another note, I think this should be folded pre-flop. Sure, you are getting 5-1, but you are playing out of position against an early position raiser who is one of the better players at the table and who is likely to have a hand that has you dominated. If he has a dominating hand like AK, you aren't really getting the effective odds to try to outdraw him. Even if not, there is almost know way you are more than about 25% to win this hand (noting that the SB could also have you dominated). Let it go. |
