Typical situation at 1/2 Tables in the BB...not sure what\'s best
Here's a typical situation that I"ve found myself where I'm unsure which play is more +EV. Hero is in the BB with 5-6 limpers with Q5 or J4, etc. Flop comes AQ5 or AJ4(no flush draws) giving bottom two pair. Do most players here just lead out or go for the checkraise? Any other plays and/or comments?

No pre-flop raiser means no clear indication of who to c/r. Bet.

I lead out and hope to get raised. You have a nice disguised hand and any A will call and hopefuly raise. If raised then I might call and check raise the turn.

I would only checkraise if I was expecting a bet. Otherwise, full steam ahead.

[/ QUOTE ] Ehh, it might be a bit risky but I think any flop with two high cards (esp. with an ace involved) is safe enough to c/r even with just limpers at 1/2 with 4-5 to act behind you. It's obvious you'll protect a vulnerable hand better with the c/r, and you'll see these flops bet the great majority of the time. No ace, I bet. |

It's obvious that you WON'T protect your hand if someone in early position bets. |

Re: Typical situation at 1/2 Tables in the BB...not sure what\'s best
Like everybody else said, I bet. Check-raising is out of the question, because the only way I know that a bet is coming from late position is if it were raised PF, in which case I wouldn't be involved in the hand to begin with.
Bottom two-pair should be played as fast as possible because its such an easy hand to have counterfeited. Lead the flop and see what happens; from that point on, do whatever you can to knock other players out. (This might mean just calling a flop raise and check-raising the turn, but it depends on the situation). |

I would lead out. Bottom two pair is actually not that great a hand, it needs protection. You'll get action.

With 5-6 limpers it's an easy C/R.
With 1-2 limpers it's an easy bet. With 3-4 limpers I want to kill myself because I feel like I'll make the wrong decision no matter what. |
