Default 4 flush with a 3 suited board

What factors do you guys weigh when considering whether to chase your 4 flush when the board is 3 suited?

The only author I've known to address this issue is Lee Jones, who says to chase if your draw is to the nuts or second nuts.

I think this advice is way oversimplified. Heads-up, you might want to chase more. If you are up against 2 aggressive players, and it is 2 big bets to you, you might want to get out of the way of their raising war, and dump a draw to the second nuts.

I know it can't be as simple as "chase a draw to the second nuts, dump a draw to the third." So, what other factors should I consider?

I think you should consider how many other draws are out there.

In other words, could some of the chasers be on a straight draw, or is the board paired and you could be up against a possible full-house.

I dont think many opponents is a problem, if you have a draw to the nuts or 2nd nuts flush, because that hand will probably win most of the time.

Also, as you considered, raising wars may well influence your play.

I think you just have to consider the possible range of hands that could beat you, and how likely it is that someone has one of those hands, from their betting patterns.

And finally, the most important consideration is possibly going to be the size of the pot.

Pot odds first, i would say. then the texture of the flop.

Technically, if you don't have the odds for the draw, texture, aggression, etc. doesn't matter. Even if they are maniacs that are capping all the time, pot odds are constant, 4to1 is always 4to1. so if there are 4 maniacs and you've got position, they would make it correct to call all the way to the river, if i understand correctly.

I guess maybe second would be implied odds. If one of these aren't +ev, than you shouldn't call IMO.

and then i guess which card you're holding. I'd say top 3 or 4, depending on reads.
