Any way this could have been avoided?

SB ($21.5) Hero ($52.45) UTG ($9.65) UTG+1 ($35.1) MP1 ($34.8) MP2 :#A500AF(Villain)/ ($29.1) CO ($5.05) Button ($24.15) Preflop: Hero is BB with Q, A. SB posts a blind of $0.1. 2 folds, MP1 calls $0.25, MP2 :#A500AF(Villain)/ calls $0.25, 2 folds, SB (poster) completes, Hero raises to $1.75, MP1 folds, MP2 :#A500AF(Villain)/ calls $1.75, SB folds. Flop: ($4.50) 9, J, A (2 players) Hero bets $2, Villain calls $2. Turn: ($8.50) Q (2 players) Hero bets $8, Villain calls $8. River: ($24.50) J (2 players) Hero checks, Villain bets $10, Hero calls $10. Final Pot: $44.50 Results in white below: Hero has Qh As (two pair, aces and queens). Villain has Js Ts (three of a kind, jacks). Outcome: Villain wins $44.50. I mean, is there anyway to avoid this, or did this guy just think I was bluffing my pants off untill his second jack came? |

He had second pair on the flop, and your <1/2 pot bet gave him odds to call, especially if there was a flush possibility. On the turn, he had third pair and an OESD. He made a mistake calling there and got lucky.
Bet more on the flop. (At least $3, but I think I'd pot it.) Other than that, I think you did fine. Once you get to the turn, he's not folding unless you WAY overbet (2x pot or more). |

Bet more on the flop. Bet $10 on the river, fold to a raise.

Preflop, raising out of the big blind wih AQ is going to get you into ticky spots. You make the pot big with a hand that is mostly only going to make top pair. You are also going to be oop the whole hand.
Once you are there bet more on the flop, something around the size of the pot. Other than that, this kind of villian is going to pull that kind of suckout on you once in a while, not a lot else you can do about it. |
