Re: Q9 Straight
Yeah thats what I figured
However, would it change anything if it was very likely that UTG was going to call 2 cold? |

Re: Q9 Straight
if he's that bad that you're pretty sure he's calling, then the raise works for me

Re: Q9 Straight
Can you elaborate on why calling the turn is superior to a raise?
Do you still call here if the pot is HU, or is it a raise then? |

Re: Q9 Straight
More likely then not, given the flop and turn action, the pot is going to be split. So the only way to make extra money would be to keep UTG in the pot. A turn raise is really only going to push UTG out of the pot, on average, without doing anything else thats advantageous.
SB might also be on a bluff and a raise might scare him out so you might as well let him keep betting. It also saves you some bets when youre actually behind. |

[ QUOTE ]
Can you elaborate on why calling the turn is superior to a raise? Do you still call here if the pot is HU, or is it a raise then? [/ QUOTE ] I think it's because there's a good chance Hero is currently splitting the pot with SB, so go for the overcall behind you. I suppose we could be worried that SB has J9, but for all the times this happens, it's not worth worrying about (yet). I still don't know, sthief... SB could very easily have something like two-pair, or an overpair. I still think Hero has to raise the turn. Adam |
