Default could someone explain???

Why do cardrooms allow people to wander and leave games repeatedly???? I'm talking leaving for 50 minutes to go to eat with another player from the same game, then you get those folks who constantly wander to chat with everyone who are at the table for 1-2 hands per dealer then are off wandering constantly.
don't floorman see that the game is always short 3-4 players and there is a list with 20 names on it.
can't these rude inconsiderate people be banned from the rooms.
I always complain and get the same answer, they are a regular. my response is always who cares, they arn't here to play cards, open the seat for someone who wants it.
Am I the only one who is bothered by this ??? or is there a good reason for joe blow to take up a seat for ten hours to play 5-6 hands in that time frame?????

Where I normally play, it doesn't really matter to me since we're renting the seat by the half-hour. I enjoy playing short handed, and it isn't costing more. The casino doesn't care since the lobbier is paying $12/hr to gab with his friends.

It does bother when there's a fixed drop coming from the pot. In California, where I play, it's illegal to rake a percentage of the pot (don't ask me why). So the places that rake the pot all drop a fixed amount (usually $4 in my area) unless the game goes short by four people. So if you have a couple of lobbiers you pay significantly more to the house. That's why I don't play at those cardrooms.

Which brings up the main point - they don't care since you're not willing to take your business elsewhere. They might not even know you care (whining to the floorman isn't enough).

the rooms tend to be more lenient when there is no board to fill the seat....cant really complain then...

BUT if there is a board, id be suprised if they let someone go an extended period since there will be others waiting...

if there is a board and they let this happen, then the room is run by a bunch of idiots and wonder what else theyre lacking in this room...

Yeah those guys can be annoying...But i've never seen the floorman do anything about it even when there's a list.

When I was playing at the Mirage and the room was packed and there were players that would leave for an extended period of time - eg; have 2 or 3 dealer buttons in front of them - the brush would bring over this plastic thingy that they would cover the absent players chips with and allow someone to play 'on top' of them. This worked out well and when an actual seat came open that player would then move.

I thought that was a nice system.

Mr Sucka,

The procedure you are talking about is called "playing over". Some rooms allow you to play over, some don't.

It can be a good practice when there is a list and people have been gone from the table for a while.

BTW, just wanted to add that although I've been playing in publc cardrooms almost everynight for 7 years (in Las Vegas); the amount of times I've seen someone's chips picked up for them being away from the table too long, I can count on one hand (with several fingers left over).

Not saying people are never ever picked up when they should be, just saying I've almost never seen it.

Best of Luck

H.B.

Las Vegas is much more lenient with walking players than the cardrooms in Seattle. Muckleshoot allows you to leave a game for only 30 minutes, at which point you can (and will... if there is a list and the players complain (which they always do)). People get picked up all the time... to be honest, I was shocked in LV about how long you could leave the game for. Then again, you can eat at the table in Seattle...

If the casino collects a percent rake they have an interest in more players playing. I think that most rakes are capped so there is no difference between 8 or 10 players.
