How many window panes have you accidentally broken playing sports?
Two for me, both in the living room of our old apartment. One was a tennis ball I pitched into a window when my brother and I were playing baseball in the house (the high heat got away from me). The other was from a skulled flop shot intended for the couch.

Re: How many window panes have you accidentally broken playing sports?
I broke one playing golf. I'm a little upset that I didn't get the satisfaction of seeing it happen. The woman was standing by her backyard with my ball in her hand when I got up there. I gave her my number and she called about the window but I didn't answer. I never heard about it again.

I am of the belief that if you hit a stray shot, in the normal course of play, with no intention of deliberately causing damage to property off the course, you are not responsible, but rather the golf course is. They are collecting moneys, pointing you in a direction and pulling the trigger. It is their responsibility to put up fences and netting in areas where such damage could occur. |

I like to think of it as window Darwinism. If you're stupid enough to buy a house right next to a golf course, you deserve to have a few windows broken.

[/ QUOTE ] I also tagged a guy's house once and split one of his shingles. He was a really cool old guy and he basically said that last sentence word for word. |

Re: How many window panes have you accidentally broken playing sports?
I've broken a few car windows with foul balls. imo, this also falls under window darwinism (see post a few above). I've also given up a serious moon shot home run that dented the hood of a car that should not have been in range (it hit a low building past the right field fence, bounced off that roof, over another building and onto the car. I got taken deeeeeeeep

Re: How many window panes have you accidentally broken playing sports?
oh i forgot one
slow-pitch i hammered one WAY deep - seriously so deep that in the air this ball hammered a car going 80 km/h right in the front windshield (freeway) i hit it over the side of a kfc - but once i hit it i moved the 15ft or whatever it was to see where the ball was gonna go/what was gonna happen. i was [censored] freaked out when i saw/heard this smash. so, of course (being 22) i took off in the middle of the game - i was playing with people i didn't really know - before the car people came to start [censored]. i never went back.... |
