Default river action

I did this from memory so the pot size might be a little off.

Party 3/6 (10 handed)

Preflop: Hero is MP2 with 9,9 no hearts.
2 folds,UTG+2 calls,1 fold, Hero Raises , 3 folds, BB calls, UTG+2 calls.

Flop: (6.50 SB) J [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], 5 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], 8 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (3 players)
BB bets , UTG+2 folds, Hero raises, BB calls.

Turn: (5.25 BB) 2 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] (2 players)
BB checks, Hero bets , BB calls.

River: (7.25 BB) 3 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (2 players)
BB checks, Hero bets ????

I had put villain on a flush draw but for some reason I still decided to bet. Should I have checked behind here?

BB check raised , Hero?

Well he bet the flop with either a flush draw or a total bluff (which you are presently ahead of); or a made hand (Jx, 2pr, set) which leads you drawing to a two-outer or runner runner. (You could have as many as 8 [hidden] outs on the turn if he had 85.)

The turn didn't get rid of him, so the chances that he was on a total bluff just went down.

The river completes the flush, so what can you beat?

Edited for clarity

Next time don't include what happened after your river bet so you don't taint the advice people give you.

However, even before seeing that, I check here. If you are raised on this bet, you have to fold.

what would you do in this situation if Villain had bet out on the river instead of checking?

I didnt have to much of a read on Villain b/c I had just sat down, but it felt like a flush draw to me. Im thinking either trust my gut and fold if he bets out on the river or raise and fold to a 3 bet.

Comments?

A raise is out of line here IMO. What is he calling you with that you beat?
