KQ Play
38 person rebuy tourney. Rebuy period is over. 17 players remaining. VERY loose table besides hero, and two others.
Hero is MP3 with t11500. MP2 is t15000 Button is T700 SB t 9000 BB t5000 Blinds are 500/1000. Folded to MP2 who limps. who is a loose calling station. Hero limps with KQ [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] Button limps. Button is one of the other tight players probably to a fault. He has limped with KK twice which is crazy considering how loose the table is imo. SB calls. BB checks. Flop: K [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]10 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]J [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] MP2 checks. Play? |

Re: KQ Play
Um, so button is all in based on your explanation. Who cares how tight he is-he has T700?
If MP is a loose calling station, why not raise and isolate? I would have bet 3500 here preflop. If you get callers, you have position and can check fold ugly pairs. You have top pair and a draw with 5000 in the pot and one all in. You have no basis to conclude anyone is on AK or AQ, particularly the blinds who would've raised. That leaves only the loose calling station. Q9 busts you at this point, but you still have outs. THat 5000 in the pot is huge in terms of getting to the final 3. Any type of bet pot commits you. Push, but I'll wager you lost. |

Re: KQ Play
Button is already committed to the pot and will call T700.
Hero bets T1500. For information and to create a sidepot. Anybody with a drawing hand will get great implied odds to call any bet. This bet does not commmit too many of your chips so you can fold it and continue on. Players with complete garbage will fold. I think you need to know where you are at. 5 handed you want to stop as many players as possible from seeing the turn for the lowest price. |

Re: KQ Play
The original post should be edited. Button is t7000 opposed to 700.

Re: KQ Play
I played a very similar hand late in a tourney that I talked about here. Open raised with KJ and with one caller the board came K-Q-10. Looked good, but later analysis said I was in big trouble. Here, you have to bet something and ~1500 looks good. But know that if tight player to your left calls or raises you, you are toast and need to shut down/fold. These broadway flops look good, but you have to be careful. Tight player could have AQ,AK,AA,KK,10-10,JJ,KJ,K-10, to which you are behind or dominated. QQ, QJ, Q-10 which you are OK with. Any other hand he will probably fold to your bet.
