Pot Equity
Can any 2 + 2ers give me clarification on pot equity?
I'm reworking my way through SSH and looking for a little futher discussion on the subject. |

It's how much of the pot you 'own'.
ie. the size of the pot x your chance of winning the hand. For example, if there's $20 in the pot, and you have a 30% chance of winning the hand, your pot equity is $20 x 0.3 = $6. It's a measure of what you're giving up by folding. I'm sure there's loads more to it than that, but that's my understanding of what the basic concept of pot equity means. |

It should be obvious that if your equity is less than the pot odds in question, e.g. facing a pot size bet when only having 30% equity that you should fold, whereas if your equity is greater against a certain number of opponents you should raise.
