Why is BitTorrent so gay?

Obviously I can download faster than this. Hundreds of people are sharing, what gives?

edit: I'll have you know, I seed until 150%.

Have you tried other clients? I had major issues with BT, but I switched to Burst and all were solved.

what is your kb/s? what are you trying to achieve?

mine is about 50. i am happy w/ this. is there more out there that i should be aware of?

I can't access p2p sites at work, but a google search of "torrent+burst" should get it.

mine is 50, I am unhappy. I have seen close to 200.

mine are always really low. i have trouble breaking 7-8 kbs on each one sometimes. occaisionnaly ill get a good one at 40-50kbs, but not too often. when I download stuff from the internet I get 200kbs eaily, like when I dl internet applications. i could just not know how to use bittorrent well. i share everything i have, im usually uploading at 50-80 kbs and dling lower.

very gay. if i have 4 dls, usually one is going at 15 and the others are hardly moving... while i spread the love of last season of entourage at 60 kilobytes per second.

Mine rocketed when I set my upload limit to 3kbps. I'm not proud of this, I'd much rather upload more like I used to, but if it lets me download 4x faster then I'll do it (I get like 130 frequently now on a cable modem which the company claim is 2mbps but clearly isn't) .
