Do you hate this?
Live 1/2 NL.
I have around $200, been playing for about an hour; nothing doing. I finally pick up the A [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] K [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] in the UTG 2 spot, raise to $10, folds to Villian who raises to about $40. She has about $60 left. I put her all in. Horrible? I reload, build it up to around $270, and pick up the J [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] J [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]. UTG folds, UTG2 folds, MP 1 calls, Hero raises to $15, call, button folds, blinds fold. Flop: $48 3 players 7 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] 7 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] 2 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] MP1 moves in for $45; Hero raises $155 (all-in)... How bad is this? My read on the short stack was that this play was a steal, possibly figuring his A high was good here (and I can deal with it if he has a 7 or a higher pair). My reraise was obviously to isolate the player on my left; he can't call without 22 or a 7 - and I didn't think this real tight player was capable of calling a PF raise with these holdings. AA,KK, or QQ would have reraised me PF. Horrible? |

Re: Do you hate this?
Both plays are fine depending on the game.. in the first play I'd be wary of a good player in the short stack here - she basically commits her whole stack preflop here, so I imagine the best you can hope for is a coin flip or split - I might lay this down depending on the player (however, vs. most players or an unknown I'd probably make your play).
The second play is fine IMO, even forcing a laydown of some superior hands in some cases I would think (in fact, happened to me today, almost the exact same situation - I'm not sure but the guy who layed down to my isolation raise that put him all-in seemed upset when I showed down my jacks which lost to the short stack's river AK flush). |
