It's not a statistic, it's a unit of measure. It stands for big bets per hour. If I have an expected profit of 3 BB/hour and a standard deviation of 40 BB/hour, after 100 hours of $25/$50 play I expect to be ahead by 3*100*$50 = $15,000. My standard deviation is 40*10*$50 = $20,000.
