Firing the third barrel
Party Poker No-Limit Hold'em, $ BB (6 max, 5 handed) converter
BB ($100) UTG ($45.54) Hero ($127.2) Button ($152.55) SB ($291.05) Preflop: Hero is MP with A[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], 5[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]. SB posts a blind of $0.5. UTG calls $1, Hero calls $1, SB (poster) raises to $1.5, 1 fold, UTG calls $1, Hero calls $1. Flop: ($7) 4[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], 4[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], 2[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (4 players) SB checks, UTG bets $7, Hero raises to $20, SB calls $20, UTG folds. Turn: ($54) 7[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] (3 players) SB checks, Hero bets $35, SB calls $35. River: ($124) 8[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (3 players) SB checks, Hero bets $60 I was really just trying to get all in with the shortstack (I'd rather he fold of course.) who likey had a small overpair, but when the other guy overcalled I kind of got myself in a situation. In a smaller pot I would just check through the turn to try and hit my draws, but I would have to give up the pot if I missed the river. I'm not really worried about a 4 here, he either has an overpair or a flush draw himself. How stupid is this? |

Re: Firing the third barrel
I like it until the river. If villian is on a flush draw you win. Villian called all the way up to this point so I doubt he will fold now to a non-scary river.
Edit: Depending on the player, the only draw I can see him having is KsQs. He most likely has an overpair here and will not fold. I actually like a check behind on the turn unless you're pretty sure you can push him off his hand. |

Re: Firing the third barrel
I think you will lose here a lot of the time.
I'll give more detail later because I'm a little preoccupied now. |

Re: Firing the third barrel
you're not folding out better hands and worse hands won't call. the 3rd barrel is unnecessary.

Re: Firing the third barrel
SB has big overpair and he is rarely folding.

Re: Firing the third barrel
Ok well I was pretty sure it was stupid as I was doing it but I just felt that I could make him fold. I was pretty sure he was on a draw of some kind, so it doesn't even really make sense to bet it as the first guy points out, I can check and win with ace high. I didn't really think that through.
Anyway, he folds and I take it down |

Re: Firing the third barrel
I guess the others got to it first.
Good post, BTW. This is a common problem. |

Re: Firing the third barrel
If I had to guess, I would say villian would have an overpair here 90% of the time if villian is halfway decent.
