Default Buying new computer--what do I need for my desired setup?

I want to have two monitors capable of 4-tabling. And I want the option to add a third monitor perhaps 6 months or so from now.

I'm a computer idiot.

Can somebody point me in the right direction? Where to shop? What to buy? What specs I need?

PLEASE HELP.

Or tell me where to ask for it.

No games. I need excel and word. And I suppose I wouldn't mind catching on with the downloading music stuff here in this here century here.

But, it's mostly for poker and internet access.

Your best bet is to just buy a Dell. Make sure you get one with room for a second graphics card, and don't get one of the monitors that comes with it because you will want to replace it with one 2 Dell 2001 FPs.

Do I just need one of the cheapest ones?

Also, should I order online, or go to like BestBuy or something?

I know it sounds like a chore, but you will save big $$$ if you put your computer together on your own.

There are tons and tons of guides out there, and no one, not even ebay!1!11AA++++ sellers can beat the prices of newegg.com.

I'd start reading up tomshardware.com, find latest benchmark articles about CPU/motherboards/RAM/video cards/etc, browse through and carefully take notes on the conclusions they draw, try to put it together, and then ask on computer forums.

Key idea: computer/hardware forums.
Those guys are out of their minds. Ask anything, they have guides, FAQs, etc.

its teh interweb, you just gotta know where to look :\

Oh, and btw, 2+2's very own multi-monitor guide: http://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/sh...o=&fpart=1

mm, putting it together on his own is probably TOO much of a chore. go to www.tigerdirect.com they have a lot of good stuff there. you should be able to find everything you need for yer basic setup there. i built my computer, and couldnt be happier with it, but i did have a bit of prior knowledge about what i needed. for a first time setup, i would recommend ordering online. best buy is overpriced imo. holla

I was also interested in this. I really do not have any experience with building my own so I would like to just purchase one. If I want to use it mainly for poker/downloading music what would be a good option? I also would like to use more than one monitor.
