What to do - Turn Donkbet
Just sat down.
Party Poker 5/10 Hold'em (10 handed) converter Preflop: Hero is CO with Q[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], T[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]. Hero posts a blind of $5. 6 folds, Hero (poster) raises, 2 folds, BB calls. Flop: (4.40 SB) Q[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], 4[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], A[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (2 players) BB checks, Hero bets, BB calls. Turn: (3.20 BB) 6[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (2 players) BB bets, Hero calls... Weird turn bet. Could he be betting a flush draw? I don't think he just hit two pair. I called, but now I'm thinking raise and check behind on the river is better. |

Re: What to do - Turn Donkbet
I think calling is OK, although I sometimes do raise here especially if I notice an opponent making a lot of untimely bets like this. I think you're good too often here to fold.

Re: What to do - Turn Donkbet
The problem with raising the turn here is that the donkbet could be an attempt to go three bets with you. If that were the case, you would have to call cause you have odds to take a look at the river card. So I think I would just make sure one bet goes in on every street, and keep it at that.

Re: What to do - Turn Donkbet
This seems like a fairly standard blind defense move from BB. You can raise a stronger player here because you're more likely to be ahead (this is a very good bet from BB, IMO), but tend to just call many weaker players.

Re: What to do - Turn Donkbet
If you raise do you follow up with a bet on the river or just take a free showdown?

Re: What to do - Turn Donkbet
In this case against an unknown if I did raise I'd probably just check through. I was actually going to ask you the same thing. Honestly I like to see what this opponent bet the turn with so I'd almost rather showdown than give him an opportunity to fold. I think you have the best hand at this point on the turn half of the time or more but I doubt if you have the best hand anyway half of the time you're called on the river.

Re: What to do - Turn Donkbet
Cool, I'd woulda checked behind too. Villain bet a blank river, I called.
Villain showed me AQ for top two and MHING. |
