Default Betting on the WSOP Main Event

Are any of the online sportsbooks taking bets yet on the WSOP ME?

Last year we had a very nice opportunity to bet up to $50 at even money on the field (everyone but 50 top poker names and a few celebrities). Fossilman was in the field. Hey - $50 is $50! With upwards of 7,000 expected this year, I'd love to get into a deal like that again. Anyone know anything?

Just to follow up, BoDog has a lot of heads-up player-vs.-player matchups plus a few other props. One prop is which sex will the winner be. If you want to take Male you have to lay 1:15 odds. Female is 10:1 against.

Pinnacle has a line up for who will make the final 9. No "Field" bet. Any thoughts on who would be a good bet at their current odds? I'm wondering how good a bet on Dan Harrington at 50:1 would be given his recent history.

Well, I'd definitely say he's one of the top ~130ish tourney NLHE players in the event, but as much of a crapshoot as this year's tourney is I don't think I'm going to be putting any money on any specific individual to get past the first day(s), even.

(What did Raymer say in the Gordon podcast? Something about how (he thinks) the very best player in the world is no better than a 1000:1 shot to win the ME this year? That sounds about right to me.)

Best bet is to get a percentage of a player, I do not see any sportsbook give an odds with overlay.

Or you can play yourself like I do, I like my odds

Those are a couple of good options. But I wouldn't know how to go about getting a percentage of a player, and it's impractical for me to go to Vegas for the ME.

That leaves me really, really hoping some book somewhere screws up like last year and gives us even money on 96% of the field. That was such a sweet deal. Probably only see a screw-up like that a couple of times in a lifetime. Too bad it was capped at $50.

an even money bet on the field is not a bet, that's a gift

If you live in the US, unless you can think of a way to bet at betfair.com, this will only be of academic interest, but there are dozens of bets available there.

Go to betfair.com, then click on Poker on the left of the page.
