Short Handed SNG\'s
I have only been playing SNG for a few months, but play mostly short handed 5 or 6 players. From reading the forum it seems virtually everyone else plays 10 handed. I have a decent ROI at short handed but am I missing some fundamental reasoning why 10 handed may be more profitable. Or is it simply personal preferance?

Re: Short Handed SNG\'s
Bigger prizepools, 3 places pay...I dunno. These are the two big ones that pop to my mind. I don't know much about short-handed SNGs though.

Re: Short Handed SNG\'s
I played 6-handed SNG's my whole first year of online play (and I've only been playing about a year and a half or so). I've made the transition, and I have to admit that it was much easier than I expected (I'm much more concerned about the eventual transition to Partystructure). I'd do the same if I were you, if for no other reason than the fact that the advice given on these boards will be easier to apply. In addition, I think ten-handed play is easier, because it allows for tighter play early on, and more doubling up early on. Good luck.

[/ QUOTE ] most of the advise in this forum is meant for Party's 10-player, short stack, fast blind structure. i play on Stars in their 9-player set up but i'm very good when play gets shorthanded down to 4-5 players. i believe shorthanded play is extremely essential because if you came predominately dominate in those situations, you put yourself in a better position to get 1st place. here's a breakdown of my last 16 cashes: 1st- 9 2nd- 3 3rd-4 in three of my 3rd place finishes, i had the best hand going in. in two of the 2nd place finishes, i had the best hand going in. so 5 out of the 7 times, i had the best hand going in and lost- oh well, that's poker. but when you're a good shorthanded player and you can make better decisions than others in those spots [because of your experience and prowess], you'll win more money. |
