i know this is just a bad beat but i have a question
Ok, this is the first hand i have played at this table. I always raise any kind of decent hand on my first hand to get people's attention. it tends to lead itself to my passive aggressive style. Anyway.
ub .25/.50 NL Hero is in CO with 50, has table covered hero has Kc7d all fold to hero who raises to 1.5 sb folds, bb calls flop KsQs7c hero bets 1(to get a call hopefully) villan raises to 5 hero pot raises villan is all in for 27 total hero calls turn is 2h river is Ac villan has Ad Ah for 3 aces and wins pot. Could i have played this more aggressive on the flop to maximize my fold equity or was this just one of those bad beats and i played it right to make sure I got callers? |

Re: i know this is just a bad beat but i have a question
You had no fold equity. People do not let go of AA on the flop at 50NL. Why bet a dollar on this board? He most likely got a piece of it, or is on a flush draw.

Re: i know this is just a bad beat but i have a question
I think this is not an easy call... He called pre flop on your raise, then pumped you right back... did KQ ever go through your mind... What did he call you with? you know now.... because you are truely bad beat, yes he got lucky, but you got silly.
Why re-raise... couldn't you put him on KQ?. And even if he has a lonely King... you said you wanted callers, so call and when the turn brings a blank, you are allin... Yes he got lucky, but only after you caught a miracle flop |

Trying to steal the blinds with this hand isn't worth it IMO, people almost always seem to think a buttons opening raise is a buy and will try and catch you on it. The blinds are so small compared to stacks you dont need to attack them so hard.

Re: i know this is just a bad beat but i have a question
I realise that the preflop raise is a bad idea, i do it nearly every time i sit down at a hand. i am fan of john vorhouse what can i say.
Why would you suspect KQ there it screams Kx |

I understand your thought on it and it makes sense, thing is to me I don't think enough opponents online pay attention enough to remember it, may be just burning chips ya know. If you feel though that this kind of advertising pays off for you, go for it. Live it would be more effective I feel but who knows. Sorry bout the beat. These things happen.

I would also be more afraid of KQ here. I have no clue about villain sitting with Ad Ah.

Re: i know this is just a bad beat but i have a question
Betting 1 is terrible IMO because you are giving drawing hands far too cheap a price to call. Bet at least 2/3 pot.
After you pot reraise, villain has to put you on AK at least...when he pushes he represents a range of hands that beat you-- KQ, QQ, or 77. But at NL 50 level, I think villain makes that play with a wide range of holdings. You got all in with the best hand...the rest is bad luck |
