Default 77 against LAG

Button seems to be quite loose and aggressive if he can be first to bet or raise, but suddenly becomes alot more passive (and somewhat tighter) if anyone else bets/calls. This line ok or too aggro?

I would check/call the river.

Good point. I am trying to not overdo the check/call on the river with marginal hands, but this is a spot where it makes perfect sense. Especially since I really don't want to be raised here.

yea exactly, there's not a high likelihood he raised preflop and has a pair of 2s or 3s or 44 ,55, 66. If he has like KQ or something, he might bluff at it. Checking also prevents you from getting blown off the best hand if you choose to fold to a raise.

EDIT: Additionally, hands that you might be losing value against by checking such as a pair of 2s, 3s, 44, 55, or 66 often will bluff the river anyway, trying to push you off a better hand.

Would he bet the turn 100% of the time when checked to? If so, I check-raise the turn.

River: Check-call.

I'm guessing you mean I should just call the flop raise and then check-raise the turn? In any case, I'm not so confident he would bet the turn if checked to since his aggression seemed oddly flaky.

No, against the right opponent I would 3-bet the flop and check-raise the turn.

Explain further, because I don't get it. This seems to be a marginal spot to try this trickery. I'd rather do this kind of play with an overpair if I know he will call down with bottom pair or an underpair to mine. Are you trying to push him off a better hand?
