Default Standard turn check?

Another not too confusing hand I'm really not sure about. The "folding an overpair" thread from this morning was actually a dramatization of a hand, it wasn't actually one I played. And here's another. Playing this hand like this just looks wrong to me, but when I look at it street by street it seems ok...

Villian is 56/35/1.8.

Party Poker 10/20 Hold'em (6 max, 5 handed) converter

Preflop: Hero is UTG with J[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], A[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img].
Hero raises, MP calls, 1 fold, SB 3-bets, 1 fold, Hero calls, MP calls.

Flop: (10 SB) J[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], 7[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], Q[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (3 players)
SB bets, Hero raises, MP folds, SB calls.

Turn: (7 BB) K[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] (2 players)
SB checks, Hero checks intending to call any non-improving river

Why does this seem so wrong to you?

Do you want to bet the turn and fold to the raise?

I keep debating this one back and forth. If it weren't for the villain having a PFR of 35%, this would be an easy check.

I still think the check is the better play right now. If you're still ahead on the turn, there aren't a great deal of cards that are gonna hurt you on the river. And if he was going to fold to your turn bet, this may get you an extra bet by inducing him to bluff/bet at the river.

Conversely, if you're behind, you've still got plenty of outs, so the free card is exactly what you need. (Accordingly, it would suck to get check-raised on the this turn, cuz you'd be forced to call).

Checking the turn looks good.

Yeah those are my thoughts exactly. This is an edited version of a hand played by my teammate in the hand history exchange thing, I just wanted to double check some hands before I gave him advice.

That's what I figured.

That's why I'm not sure what you wanted to hear about the turn check.

How else could you have played it?

bet the turn. I check here all the time myself, but with the drawy nature of the board I thought maybe some people wouldn't like checking.
