Default Small overpair against PF raiser

Party Poker No-Limit Hold'em, $ BB (6 max, 6 handed) converter
Villain has a VPIP of 44 and a PFR of 8 over 50 hands. I don't know if it matters but on this table i caught a run of good hands which i was raising preflop and then potting on the flop. All 3 times everyone folded on the flop and the last time the Villain made a comment like "Oh look at big bad hero"...Maybe a factor.
Hero ($61.45)
CO ($47.7)
Button ($7)
SB ($17.9)
BB ($40.7)
UTG ($157.35)

Preflop: Hero is MP with 8[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], 8[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]. SB posts a blind of $0.25.
UTG calls $0.50, Hero calls $0.50, <font color="#666666">2 folds</font>, SB (poster) completes, <font color="#CC3333">BB raises to $1.5</font>, UTG calls $1.50, Hero calls $1.50, SB folds.

Flop: ($6.50) 7[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], 4[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], 6[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] <font color="#0000FF">(3 players)</font>
<font color="#CC3333">BB bets $2</font>, UTG calls $2, <font color="#CC3333">Hero raises to $8</font>, <font color="#CC3333">BB raises to $20</font>, UTG folds, Hero calls $12.

Turn: ($48.50) 2[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] <font color="#0000FF">(2 players)</font>
BB calls $18.70 (All-In), Hero calls $18.70.

River: ($85.90) 9[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] <font color="#0000FF">(2 players, 1 all-in)</font>

Final Pot: $85.90

Was this a badly played hand. I just couldn't really put villain on a hand that had me beat. I smelled a pure bluff.

I think I tried to get too fancy. It usually never works.

If you smelled a pure bluff you should have got it all in on the flop.

It's not a call situation there.

You push, or you fold.

I would have folded, and waited for a better spot.

This looks like a ahnd where villian probably has a higher pair in the hole than you, especially with his reraise on the flop. I don't think too many people are playing over cards that way. I think you needed to fold this one, but hope it worked out.

How about every pair other than 3's and 5's. Hope your read was right.
