What are the odds of two players getting wired? I was playing at a s-n-g the other night and lost when I had trip 9's to someone having trip Q's! The odds got to be big for something like this....

Do you mean rolled up on third (three of a kind right away) verses wired (a pair in the hole) or do you mean both catching trips in the end rolled down? This information will help the math gurus figure it out for you. I am not the statistician.

According to this link, the odds of being rolled are once every 425 hands. So the odds of two people being rolled at the same time = 1/425 *1/425 = 1 in 180,625.
This happened to me a couple of weeks ago - I was dealt rolled aces and villain had rolled fours. I lost the hand |

And you can take that to the bank.

You have to consider that there are other people at the table, all with a shot at getting trips, and you also can't assume independence, because once one person has trips, that is going to change the chances for the next. What you found are the chance of one player being rolled up in back to back hands. Beer. PS, I am at a soft 10/20 table right now, and losing. |

Beer,
Yep, should have thought about this some more. Independence cannot be assumed as you have correctly pointed out. Hope things turn on that table. |

In a hand a few months ago, I won with quad 9's against quad 8's, both of us rolled up. If I recall correctly, we both made our quads on either 5th or 6th street.
