Can I get a ruling here?
Might not be the right forum....o well
Home NL tournament with unlimited rebuys and add on option. Blinds start 1-2, then 3-6, then 5-10. When we reach 5-10, we take all whites off the table, no more rebuys, and an option to add on. Here's the question. (we are playing with an alarm for changing levels). We are at the end of the last rebuy level. Player goes all in, and gets called. ALARM GOES OFF IN THE MIDDLE OF THE HAND! Player loses the hand. Can that player rebuy and/or add on? Thank you all for responses... |

Re: Can I get a ruling here?
Yes, he can. When the alarm goes off, that's the last hand for that level. Then all players have the opportunity for their final rebuy, addon, etc before the tourney resumes. It's a good idea to allow 10-15 minutes to handle rebuys, addons, and coloring up... it's not exactly the fastest process on the face of the earth.

Re: Can I get a ruling here?
I would imagine that this player could rebuy or add-on as he was involved in the hand when the alarm went off. I believe that the alarm signals the hand as being the last one at that level, so after that hand he would have the option to rebuy. Correct me if I'm wrong here.

Re: Can I get a ruling here?
That's a really fast blind structure...
In any unlimited rebuy tourney I've ever played, I've always had the option to rebuy if the buzzer goes off during the last hand before the period is over. |

This is similar to the case where a new level does not begin until 1.) it has been announced by the Tournament Director, and 2.) the cards have begun to be shuffled/dealt for the first hand following that announcement. |

Re: Can I get a ruling here?
A hand starts at the beginning of the first riffle of the shuffle process.
Action can obviously be completed at the current stakes on any hand that meets the above requirement. Once the timer goes off, any business that needs to be taken care of before the next level starts can and should be taken care of at that time. This includes last chance to rebuy. I suggest you acquire a copy of "Robert's rules" and adopt it as a general guideline for your home games. http://www.lasvegasvegas.com/poker/rrpprinter.php I also suggest you get familiar with the TDA rules. http://www.wptinsider.com/learningpoker/tda.asp al |
