This is not a quiz. I am looking for answers.
You are in the BB with J9o and there are 3 limpers. You check to see a free flop and it comes 9,6,2 rainbow, giving you top pair medium kicker. You are first to act: BET or CHECK? You are pretty sure some of the limpers have over cards. What if one of the limps raised preflop in Early or Late positon? Would you complete for a small bet? If you did, then what would you do on the above flop? BET or CHECK |

I bet this flop. If there was a preflop raiser I might go for a c/r to get it HU.

BET or CHECK [/ QUOTE ] It is read dependent but generally calling is fine. If the PF raiser is on your right check intending to C-R. If he is on your left you can sometimes bet if you think he is very agressive to raise you with overcards etc. Otherwise betting is not going to scare anyone with a pot that big and your hand is not that strong. |

bet, bet.
Although, after reading the thread I like the c/r line. KO |

Check, with the intention of raising a LP bet. You likely have the best hand, but betting out does nothing other then build a pot and does not protect against those drawing to OCs. Someone betting from LP could be bluffing or have a weaker hand. A raise hopefully knocks out the remaining players holding OCs, protecting your hand.
If it checks through, I'd bet on a non-scary turn card, and especially if I improve. EDIT: If the raiser were in EP, I'd bet out hoping he'd raise and knock out the other players to get it HU. If it was late, the C/R line is even more golden because you can expect the late bet. |

Just wanted to know I was playing it correctly.
I moved up to 2/4 and had this type of hand came up a few times. To say the least, an overcard comes on the turn or river and it is raised and reraised. At that point I am sure my nines are no good and fold. Doing this at 2/4, along with betting OESD and flush draws and missing them all, has put a big dent in my bankoll. It helps to know I am playing it correctly but just being unlucky. |
