Did I play this bubble horribly?

Very next hand: No-limit Texas Hold'em $20+$2 (real money), hand #971,103,250 Managua Single Table Tournament, 8 Jun 2005 10:14 AM Seat 2: Hero [KS,AS] ($1,530 in chips) Seat 6: Button ($8,000 in chips) Seat 7: SB ($480 in chips) Seat 10: BB ($4,990 in chips) ANTES/BLINDS SB posts blind ($400), BB posts blind ($800). PRE-FLOP Hero bets $1,530 and is all-in, Button calls $1,530, SB folds, BB folds. FLOP [board cards 6C,5C,10H ] TURN [board cards 6C,5C,10H,KC ] RIVER [board cards 6C,5C,10H,KC,8S ] SHOWDOWN Hero shows [ KS,AS ] Button shows [ 6H,6D ] Button win $4260 Busted out leaving the guy with 80 chips. Makes me furious too because earlier he was allin in the BB and I would have busted him with A7 of clubs had Seat Ten not pushed with rags and gotten heads up (and lost). At the time the top 3 were even. |

Hand 1: Hero moves in preflop.
Hand 2: Fine. |

Re: Did I play this bubble horribly?
I think the first hand was a push preflop, the second hand was fine.

Re: Did I play this bubble horribly?
I think you have to push hand 1 if you're going to play it. Youve got less than 4x BB and the blinds are about to hit you. If you want to tiptoe into 3rd place I guess you could fold.
But no calling allowed. |

Re: Did I play this bubble horribly?
In retrospect I see how idiotic this thought process was, but at the time I was actually HOPING the SB would call in hand one so we could check down and bust the BB together. Of course, why the hell would the BB call after the SB calls. He has just enough to get through the next two hands and let some other idiot bust out.
Sorry if this seems obvious to everyone else - I am still trying to figure out proper bubble strategy. |

Re: Did I play this bubble horribly?
Don't want to tiptoe into third, but I'd like to avoid effing it up. I had to push. Arrgh. As soon as we see the flop he knows I can't call unless I hit the flop and that I most likely missed it.

[/ QUOTE ] i would push pre-flop. given your raise pre-flop, i push the flop. you've almost certainly got 6 outs, and there's a decent chance villain folds. there's even some chance he calls with a worse hand. |
