Default Flopped nuts, standard line?

No reads, Party 2/4 full ring

I open raise from MP2 with Q[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] K[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] and get called by both blinds.

Flop (6 SB): A[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] T[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] J[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]
SB bets, BB calls, Hero raises, SB reraises, BB calls, Hero Calls

Turn (7.5 BB): 3[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]
SB bets, BB calls, hero raises, SB calls, BB calls

River (13.5 BB): J[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]
SB checks, BB bets, hero calls, SB calls

Final Pot (16.5 BB)

How'd I do?

I think that the flop/turn is fine.

But since BB has been so passive I don't think he rivered a FH house here. I'd probably raise once more. I think that you would have heard from a set/two pair, but all he has done is call. I'd probably think that he has an A that just "improved" to two pair.

I actually like the call. Gets an overcall from the SB who you know you have beat. Also, if you are behind to him or even the SB who was going for a c/r on the river you are in trouble. What if the action goes like this BB bets Hero raises SB 3bets with his probable AJ BB calls and you call 1 more knowing you are beat. Also if you raise and SB fold and BB 3-bets you are in trouble again. I just see too much risk trying to get that raise in when you prob are going to get the same 2BBs if you raise or call but raising has problems.

I considered the overcalls, but perhaps I gave to much probability to SB calling 2 cold.

Even if you call SB can still c/r. I also think SB will overcall with a raise. I like raise.

Really? I was actually concerned about sb check raising the river, which was a large factor in my river call decision. I agree that we probably would have heard from the BB if he had two pair or a set, so I was less worried about him.

lets discuss trying for overcalls here. I like it because:

- very possible that BB is bluffing and you're not getting any more bets from him.
- possible but unlikely that BB has you beat
- possible that your overcaller has you beat

There is no way the BB is trying to bluff at this pot on the river. He probably has a J and thinks he just sucked out on big Aces.

So far all the BB has done is call. I doubt he has a set or had top two-pair.

If SB had filled up, I think it is more likely he leads so that the paired board doesn't check through and he gets the chance to 3-bet.

For all these reasons, I think raising the river is good.
