Default 20 pf 6-max pf decisions

In keeping with my flooding the wrong forum with this stuff I am checking my pf game out.... I think most of these decions are very easy ones but I might be surprised at what you guys suggest. Please point out the hands you play differently because this is 6-max instead of full ring.

Hand 1:
Party Poker 1/2 Hold'em (6 max, 6 handed) converter

Preflop: Hero is SB with 2[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], K[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img].

1) Fold.
2) Raise.
3) Fold.
4) Sometimes fold, sometimes raise. Depends on reads, image, etc.
5) Usually fold. Occasionally raise but limper has to be really bad.
6) Raises.
7) Calls. I wouldn't always raise this PF.
8) Sometimes folds, sometimes raises. Depends on blinds and their defending frequency. Folds against looser blinds.
9) Completes.
10) Meh. Don't think it matters much.
11) Raises.
12) Folds generally, unless UTG is LAG. The worse UTG is the more I'm likely to call.
13) Folds.
14) Folds.
15) Folds.
16) Folds.
17) Completes.
18) Sometimes raises, sometimes folds, almost never limps. Depends on game texture.
19) Folds.
20) Sometimes calls, usually folds. Depends on the limper.

Note: I lead out from the SB in lots of unraised pots on favorable flops. I'm leading out close to 100% of the time in unraised 3-handed pots on flops like K64 with any two cards, for example.

Hand 1: I fold. I'd likely defend in the BB, but that's not worth defending in the SB HU.

Hand 2: Raise.

Hand 3: Fold. Suited I'd probably raise.

Hand 4: Raise.

Hand 5: Raise.

Hand 6: Raise or limp.

Hand 7: Call BB's raise. I likely would have raised PF too.

Hand 8: Fold.

Hand 9: Complete or fold. I don't usually complete random suited trash with only one other player, but at 6-max I loosen up... maybe too much.

Hand 10: Same as Hand 9.

Hand 11: Raise.

Hand 12: Defend.

Hand 13: Fold.

Hand 14: Fold, unless my raises are getting too much respect.

Hand 15: Fold.

Hand 16: Defend.

Hand 17: Complete or raise.

Hand 18: Depends on the table. If my raises are getting respect, raise; if it's a very passive table, then limp; if it's an aggressive table, likely fold.

Hand 19: Fold.

Hand 20: Fold.

I think a lot of these are situational. for instance:

I'm raising to isolate weak players fairly frequently. my cards matter a lot, but so does my read on the opponent.

How many of your opponents raises are "steal" raises is also important; sometimes I'll play back for the sake of playing back, almost regardless of my cards.

If I haven't stolen in a while, my stealing standards might be lower, and vice-versa.

table texture also matters in open-raising standards. I used to open raise 22-66 in EP, now I tend to muck them on loose tables. Open-raising 22, and getting 3 callers isn't that cool.

Is this just a one time stab designed to steal? If you are called in one or two spots what do you do on the turn? Check fold unless you improve in both cases?

It depends on my hand, the people who call, and the texture of the board. To compensate for the times I bet the flop, I'll also check the turn with a hand like K6 occasionally, intending to checkraise, FWIW (this is only against opponents I have a history with, though).

I think 1/2 6max stuff in micros is good. I'm intimidated in HUSH. Also, us micro guys could stand to learn some shorthanded stuff. It comes up in full ring play more often than people admit.

For the record, there are no hands I play differently at 6 max vs. full ring. As soon as it's folded to MP2, full ring = 6 max. The only "differences" after that are differences in reads. Full ring players tend to differ from those at 6 max, but it's the read that dictates the differences in my play, not the fact that it says "6 max" by the table name.

Anyway, your hands...

Hand 1:
Party Poker 1/2 Hold'em (6 max, 6 handed) converter

Preflop: Hero is SB with 2[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], K[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img].
<font color="#666666">2 folds</font>, <font color="#CC3333">CO raises</font> HERO?

Hero folds.

Hand 2:
Party Poker 1/2 Hold'em (6 max, 6 handed) converter

Preflop: Hero is BB with Q[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], K[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img].
UTG calls, <font color="#666666">1 fold</font>, CO calls, Button calls, <font color="#666666">1 fold</font> HERO?

Hero raises.

Hand 3:
Party Poker 1/2 Hold'em (6 max, 6 handed) converter

Preflop: Hero is Button with 4[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], A[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img].
<font color="#666666">1 fold</font>, MP calls, 1 fold, HERO?

Hero raises tight blinds and a sucky MP1. Otherwise, hero folds.

Hand 4:
Party Poker 1/2 Hold'em (6 max, 6 handed) converter

Preflop: Hero is MP with 5[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], 5[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img].
<font color="#666666">1 fold HERO? </font>

Hero folds, but raising isn't terrible at the right table.

Hand 5:

Party Poker 1/2 Hold'em (6 max, 6 handed) converter

Preflop: Hero is CO with A[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], 8[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img].
UTG calls, <font color="#666666">1 fold</font>, HERO?

I've been having some difficulties with A8o in spots like these. It might be underperforming, but I think I'm overplaying it. I'm tempted to fold because of that, but if not, raise.

Hand 6:
Party Poker 1/2 Hold'em (6 max, 6 handed) converter

Preflop: Hero is Button with K[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], J[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img].
<font color="#666666">1 fold</font>, MP calls, CO calls, HERO?

Rasing and limping are close for me. I probably raise.

Hand 7:
Party Poker 1/2 Hold'em (6 max, 6 handed) converter

Preflop: Hero is SB with A[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], 8[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img].
<font color="#666666">2 folds</font>, CO calls, <font color="#666666">1 fold</font>, <font color="#CC3333">Hero raises</font>, <font color="#CC3333">BB 3-bets</font>, CO calls, HERO?

I may just complete that the first time around. It's hard to push people around being OOP. That said, just call here, and be prepared to muck if you miss, or WA/WB if you catch an A.

Hand 8:
Party Poker 1/2 Hold'em (6 max, 6 handed) converter

Preflop: Hero is Button with K[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], 5[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img].
<font color="#666666">3 folds</font>, HERO?

I probably fold, but if the blinds are tight, raising is good.

Hand 9:
Party Poker 1/2 Hold'em (6 max, 6 handed) converter

Preflop: Hero is SB with Q[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], 3[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img].
<font color="#666666">2 folds</font>, CO calls, <font color="#666666">1 fold</font>, HERO?

Hero folds. I'd complete K3s.

Hand 10:
Party Poker 1/2 Hold'em (6 max, 5 handed) converter

Preflop: Hero is SB with 6[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], J[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img].
<font color="#666666">1 fold</font>, MP calls, <font color="#666666">1 fold</font>, HERO?

Hero folds again. I might complete J7s.

Hand 11:
Party Poker 1/2 Hold'em (6 max, 5 handed) converter

Preflop: Hero is UTG with K[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], J[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img].
HERO?

Easy raise.

Hand 12:
Party Poker 1/2 Hold'em (6 max, 6 handed) converter

Preflop: Hero is BB with 7[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], 6[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img].
<font color="#CC3333">UTG raises</font>, <font color="#666666">4 folds</font>, HERO?

You can defend this, but depending on your read of UTG, it's not too bad to muck it, either.

Hand 13:
Party Poker 1/2 Hold'em (6 max, 6 handed) converter

Preflop: Hero is BB with 6[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], 5[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img].
<font color="#CC3333">UTG raises</font>, <font color="#666666">3 folds</font>, SB calls, <font color="#666666"> HERO?</font>

Hero mucks. I want them to be s00ted.

Hand 14:
Party Poker 1/2 Hold'em (6 max, 6 handed) converter

Preflop: Hero is CO with Q[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], 7[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img].
<font color="#666666">2 folds</font>
HERO?

Easy fold.

Hand 15:
Party Poker 1/2 Hold'em (6 max, 6 handed) converter

Preflop: Hero is Button with 9[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], 8[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img].
<font color="#666666">1 fold</font>, MP calls, CO calls, HERO?

Hero folds. Again, I want them s00ted.

Hand 16:
Party Poker 1/2 Hold'em (6 max, 5 handed) converter

Preflop: Hero is BB with J[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], 8[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img].
<font color="#CC3333">UTG raises</font>, <font color="#666666">3 folds</font> HERO?

I'm leaning towards fold, depending on my read of UTG.

Hand 17:
Party Poker 1/2 Hold'em (6 max, 6 handed) converter

Preflop: Hero is SB with 9[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], K[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img].
<font color="#666666">2 folds</font>, CO calls, <font color="#666666">1 fold</font>, HERO?

Against a passive BB, you could maybe complete this, but folding isn't too bad, either. I don't like K9.

Hand 18:

Party Poker 1/2 Hold'em (6 max, 6 handed) converter

Preflop: Hero is UTG with 6[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], 6[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img].
HERO?

I raise, but some fold here. This is my cutoff, but some only raise 77+.

Hand 19:
Party Poker 1/2 Hold'em (6 max, 6 handed) converter

Preflop: Hero is MP with T[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], K[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img].
<font color="#CC3333">UTG raises</font>, HERO?

Easy muck.

Hand 20:
Party Poker 1/2 Hold'em (6 max, 6 handed) converter

Preflop: Hero is Button with K[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], 2[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img].
<font color="#666666">2 folds</font>, CO calls, HERO?

Hero folds.

-easy raise from UTG in a 6 handed game, let alone a 5 handed one. I usually start raising this from about MP2 or MP1 in a full game

Hand 12:
Party Poker 1/2 Hold'em (6 max, 6 handed) converter

Preflop: Hero is BB with 7[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], 6[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img].

- easy call IMO against most aggressive players. I'd fold if he were UTG in a full game, but UTG in 6 max is basically MP2 in a full game, against whom I'd defend this.

Hand 13:

Preflop: Hero is BB with 6[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], 5[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img].
<font color="#CC3333">UTG raises</font>, <font color="#666666">3 folds</font>, SB calls, HERO?

[/ QUOTE ]

-folds probably. T9o is usually my cutoff here, and I like it more against worse players

Hand 14:
Party Poker 1/2 Hold'em (6 max, 6 handed) converter

Preflop: Hero is CO with Q[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], 7[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img].
<font color="#666666">2 folds</font>
HERO?

[/ QUOTE ]

-probably folds unless there's a metagame I need to worry about. I like Q9o from the CO and Q8o from the button, but

Preflop: Hero is Button with 9[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], 8[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img].
<font color="#666666">1 fold</font>, MP calls, CO calls, HERO?

[/ QUOTE ]

-limping is ok here, so is folding if you aren't kosher with your postflop play.

Hand 16:
Party Poker 1/2 Hold'em (6 max, 5 handed) converter

Preflop: Hero is BB with J[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], 8[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img].
<font color="#CC3333">UTG raises</font>, <font color="#666666">3 folds</font> HERO?

[/ QUOTE ]

-I fold, I dont like offsuit 2 gappers if the cards aren't higher. I think about Q9o here and defend based on the opponent (don't like palying TAGs OOP, will gambool it up against LAGs)

[ QUOTE ]

Hand 17:
Party Poker 1/2 Hold'em (6 max, 6 handed) converter

Preflop: Hero is SB with 9[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], K[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img].
<font color="#666666">2 folds</font>, CO calls, <font color="#666666">1 fold</font>, HERO?

-I complete here but you can raise as well

Hand 18:

Preflop: Hero is UTG with 6[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], 6[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img].
HERO?

[/ QUOTE ]

-this is the lowest PP I raise UTG at 6max, 55-22 I fold. I add 55 in MP, 44 in CO, and 33-22 on the button. I'm not sure if that's optimal.

Hand 19:
Party Poker 1/2 Hold'em (6 max, 6 handed) converter

Preflop: Hero is MP with T[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], K[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img].
<font color="#CC3333">UTG raises</font>, HERO?

[/ QUOTE ]

-folds against a decent player, can isolate a LAG. not quite enough hand here against a good player, he typically has a PP or has you dominated (he'll be raising hands like ATo and KJo here if he's decent

[ QUOTE ]

Hand 20:
Party Poker 1/2 Hold'em (6 max, 6 handed) converter

Preflop: Hero is Button with K[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], 2[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img].

-merit to all three options, though I rank them

folding

Thanks for this post. It's good practice. I might be a bit on the tight side though. I got just below 22% vpip over my first ~6k hands. Not sure if I want to bring it up too much as it's going surprisingly well. It might be a good run though.
