Why?

Worse hands (mainly worse aces) will call the bet. Full houses will raise if you bet and bet if you check, but worse aces won't bet if you check. The only time you're getting a free showdown here is when your hand is good.

I see. What do you do if you're raised? Can you find a fold?

Do you call a bet from UTG?

If I get raised I can find a fold versus an unknown or just a generally loose passive player.

Against a tricky aggressive player (who wasn't raising a bettor and a caller) I will probably pay off.

If UTG donkbets this river, I believe it is a call.
