Default blind vs blind, 2 big hands?

Party $3/6

All fold to SB (vp$ip 24%, pfr 5%, af- 0.53)

SB raises, I call in BB w/KK
flop AJ4r, he bets I call.
turn J, he bets I raise.

Thoughts on all streets?

Default my thoughts

Preflop I don't want to reveal the strength of my hand yet, given his passive stats. I think he'll keep betting most boards until I show strength, and then he'll revert to check/call or folding. I put him on a decent Ace or a pocket pair.

Given my flop call, I raised the turn figuring he could only 3bet with a jack. While he wouldn't fold a better hand, he would probably still call with most pocket pairs. I planned to take the free showdown, or fold to a 3bet or river bet unless I spike my King.

I considered raising the flop, checking behind on the turn and calling a river bet. Aside from being 1 SB cheaper, is there any reason to prefer that line here?

I'd 3 bet PF. Since you just called I'd call, call, and call. You don't want the J or a worse hand to fold do you? You want him to keep betting. And if he has a better hand you save cash.

The turn raise sucks. I would call down but could also fold here. I also 3-bet PF b/c i'm 3-betting a lot here.

A jack fold where? I didn't raise the flop, and he's definitely not folding trips on the turn.

If he has a better hand, I lose the same by raising the turn and taking a free showdown as by calling the turn and river. After the turn raise I won't put any more in.

If he's behind he doesn't have many outs is a reason to call, call, call though. And I guess he might fold 55 or something but would still bet the river if I just call the turn.

The turn raise sucks.

Why does it suck?

Is it because small pairs will fold instead of betting again on the river?

I liked it because it showed aggression on a big street with less than top pair, but didn't have the risk of losing more because he's so unlikely to put in the 3bet or bet out the river. Although maybe in this game there's no point assuming people notice such things.

Raising preflop since you'll raise other hands is a good reason to 3bet, I like that.

Oops thought the J was the river. A J will 3-bet and let you fold. An A will probably call a let you get a free showdown. Any other hand is likely to get out. Maybe raising for a freeshowdown is good.

u also may fold hands like QQ/ 1010/ 99 and don't get a river bet out of them. You very likely may only get called by better hands here.

I agree that I'm not forcing any better hands to fold. But I doubt he'd fold QQ,TT,99 in a blind v blind situation in this game.

U can't extract a river bet like u say. Also, after u call the flop bet, i can't imagine a passive player betting into u with much that u beat on the turn if he's thinking all that much.
