Low set on 1 suited flop
MP1 raises often to that amount with about any hand, he's not really the one I worry about.
MP2 may call big raises with suited connectors, and $14 aint a big raise. Party Poker No-Limit Hold'em, $ BB (10 handed) converter MP1 ($580.7) MP2 ($393.3) MP3 ($381) CO ($582.82) Button ($357.5) SB ($411) BB ($392) UTG ($380.9) UTG+1 ($509.4) Hero ($589.57) Preflop: Hero is UTG+2 with 3[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], 3[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]. SB posts a blind of $2. 2 folds, Hero calls $4, MP1 raises to $14, MP2 calls $14, 2 folds, Button calls $14, SB (poster) calls $12, 1 fold, Hero calls $10. Flop: ($74) 3[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], Q[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], 7[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] (5 players) SB checks, Hero checks, MP1 bets $15, MP2 raises to $65, Button folds, SB folds Hero ? |

Re: Low set on 1 suited flop
Following that type of action, I fold. It is too likely that one of the two has a flopped flush or higher set.

Fold without even pondering it.

Re: Low set on 1 suited flop
There are a number of hands than he could raise that weak bet with. depending on the flow and my image, i would see a non diamond turn and bet a little more than 2/3 or triple his bet on the flop and see what happens, probably the latter. You donīt have enough information to lay down a set yet.. my two / Durer

Re: Low set on 1 suited flop
the advice in this thread about easy fold is terrible... this a very image dependent situation... reraising and calling are both ok.

I'm a PLO poster, and didn't even realize I wasn't in the PLO forum. My previous advice (fold) is entirely standard in PLO... and of course may be ATROCIOUS in Hold 'Em. My apologies. As to what to do - I have no idea... I suck at that 2-card game. Sorry . -Todd |

Re: Low set on 1 suited flop
I lead a pottish bet here. As it is you really dont have much information....MP1 minbet and was raised, this could mean a lot of things although I think the A diamonds is a good candidate. BUT, the real problem you are in now is you arent closing the action. This could get bad if MP1 was making a weak lead or something.
I like to lead into this pot and see what happens. If you are raised it will be situational, and if someone has flopped a flush you can likely draw to your outs at a good price (as a lot of players at this level will be "trapping" with a flopped flush providing it is high flush) with great implied odds to fill up. |

I'd lead at this flop.

Re: Low set on 1 suited flop
I agree with the advice to lead on this flop. You got to find out where you are at in this hand. Best case scenario is that your against a Ad and a top 2 pair.. I doubt it though with the texture of the flop. I'd definitely want to lead and then probably call a small raise to try and pair up on the turn. I don't think folding here is a big mistake either.
