Default Anyone going to be at Canterbury 6/9-6/10?

I am escaping the clutches of the concrete jungle to see a friend this weekend and will be stopping by the casino on the above dates. Anyone going to be there?

Also, I did a search of the archives and it seems that the $8/$16 is the game to play. If that has changed, please let me know. My only goal is to not embarrass myself. I figure that I will be ok if I stay focused and repeatedly tell myself to "play perfect poker" over and over again.

Thanks.

I lost $1700 in the 8/16 game Sat. night/Sunday morning. That said, the game was good. I'll give you an example.

I raise UTG+1 after a retarded player limps. I have KK. One retard cold calls. Blinds fold.

3 to the flop.
T2Q

check, bet, fold, call.

Turn: 9

check, bet, call.

River: A

UTG now bets, I say "Did you really fish out an ace?" as I call. He shows A4o. Yummy.
The 15/30 game can be good at times too.

There's a good chance I'll be there playing somewhere between 4-8 and 15/30.

Jeez! Viva la variance! I think that I will cut my losses before I get to the $1700 mark, but that is, of course, a bad approach if the competition is that weak.

At any rate, I will be the guy leading the doofy, beer guzzling, wookie-looking guy around (my friend from college), so just hollar "woot!" so I know who you is.

Any other tips are welcome on the games at Canterbury. Thanks.

Why go off for more than 100 bets in a live session? When I look at sessions where I've lost 50 bets or more, many times I notice I made what was guaranteed to be a bad night worse than it had to be. I'd say in your case, that was a certainty...100 bets is WAY to much to go off for in a live game. Just one man's opinion.

If the game is good, why leave, regardless of results? I've been into that game for 7 racks before and won back 5. With retards, high variance is expected. I will stay in a good game as long as I can keep my eyes open.

Yea, I read that chapter about expectation also. I just doubt you were playing well the whole time if you got buried that much. It's likely you made a bad night worse that it should have been. Last word from me, I'm not trying to get personal. Lord knows I've gone off for a ton in one night.

I was playing $6/12 last Saturday night and they were practically giving money away. very passive semi-loose game. haven't played the $8/16 there but hear it can be much more aggressive.

the only thing that was weird was how dead it was compared to normal. I played from 8pm-12am and we often struggled to keep it 7-handed. of course the $2/4 list was a mile long...

good luck.
