Default Help me settle a bet...

A friend and I had an argument about this, and I was wondering what the consensus was... Heres the situation
Hero is in a loose 2-4 limit game, in the BB with TT. Everyone calls to me in the BB. Is the correct play in terms of EV to raise or to call. He argued that my chances of winning were better than everoyne elses most likely, so I should raise to build a pot to win more when I hit. I argued that hands like QJ have a better chance to win the pot, so I should just try to take the flop cheap, since i'll get paid off when I hit anyways with that many people in. whats the consensus on this situation?

the rule is: only raise if you will win the hand >85% of the time, otherwise fold.

You should raise because your hand rates better than theirs before the flop. Youre going to have a tough time winning the pot without a great flop anyways there isnt as much advantage to identifying your hand as a strong one preflop. Youre getting 9-1 on your preflop raise and you are a 7.5 underdog to flop a set. You should raise for value.

No. You should not always raise when you have the best hand. However, see below.

This is why you raise. As an added bonus, you gain a little deception value, since your opponents may put you on an overpair and continue trying to draw almost dead against you with a single pair or Ace when you hit your ten and start going nuts.
