I just had mine on party poker, JUST now.
In the span of 20 hands, no word of a lie: AA 3 times QQ twice (make sets on both) AK 6 times (win 4 out of 6) Aks once AJ once worst part is I just got 66, called, and folded when it was one more bet to me preflop with 2 guys in. 6 hits. I've never seen a rush like this. Ever had something close to that ? |

I had a gentle upswing for nearly 3 months. That was pretty hot.

If you've limped PF, always call one bet back to you. Straight outta SSHE.

Even when the math makes no sense though ? if I limp with 33 and only 2 guys are in behind me, I look at the odds of making my set and figure the numbers don't justify the call. Am I doing this wrong ?

Depends on the table texture. You felt good enough about limping the 6's to begin with. It's all about implied odds here. You are something like 7:1 against flopping your set, but the $ you make up post-flop when you do makes playing the small PP's worthwhile. Loose and passive tables are where the PP's thrive, getting action postflop when you hit your hand.

I guess I'd need to sit and do the math on that. If my small pp is winning 75% of the time it makes a set, I'm sure there's a number of people in the hand I need to make that call correct.

there was a post about limping 22 UTG. I can't find it. Maybe someone has it bookmarked. Good stuff.

Am I doing this wrong ? [/ QUOTE ] Yeah, open limping with small pairs from MP can be bad. I might do it if I know there's only loose passives in the 3 seats behind me, but even then it's marginal. If there's an aggressive player who's going to pounce on your MP open-limp isolate you with hands like KJo and ATo, then it's an easy muck. RE: calling a raise, you should basically never fold any hand for one more bet before the flop. I think it's nuts to fold a hand like 66 for 1 bet back to you. |
